By downloading or using Fish Identifier ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The app uses AI to identify fish from photos, including notes on whether a species is safe to eat, its habitat and size, and a catch log. Identifications are generated automatically and may be wrong. They are provided for information and education only.
Edibility notes are informational and must never be your only basis for deciding whether to eat a fish. Never eat a fish based solely on an app identification. Some fish — such as pufferfish — are poisonous no matter how they are prepared, and some otherwise-edible fish carry ciguatera or accumulated mercury in specific waters. Always confirm identification with a qualified local source, check your regional consumption advisories, and when in doubt, release the fish. Size and record figures are estimates, not guarantees.
Premium features (unlimited scanning, the full species profile, and premium spot and Bitetime tools) require a subscription billed through your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms. Where required, Apple's standard licensed application terms apply: Apple Standard EULA.
You agree not to abuse the service — including automated scraping, reverse-engineering the app or its API, circumventing usage limits or subscription checks, or using the app for anything unlawful. You are responsible for following your local fishing regulations, licensing and catch limits.
The app relies on third-party services to work: AI processing (OpenAI), subscription management (RevenueCat), payments (Apple) and maps (Apple Maps). Their availability is outside our control; the app's features may be limited if a provider is unavailable.
The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses or harm arising from decisions made based on identifications, edibility notes, size estimates or bite forecasts. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the last 12 months.
We may update the app, these terms, or discontinue the service. Material changes to these terms will be reflected by the effective date above. We may suspend access in cases of abuse (section 4).
