How does scanning work?
Point the camera at the bug — from above, the whole body in frame, as close as you can get while staying sharp — and tap the shutter. You can also pick an existing photo from your library. The AI names the species and tells you whether it bites, stings or is a household pest, along with its size, habitat and range.
The identification looks wrong
Try another photo: get closer, hold steady in good light, and capture the whole insect including legs and wings. When the AI isn't sure, it says so — treat a low-confidence result as unidentified, especially before handling anything.
Is the danger rating reliable?
It is informational, not medical advice. Never rely solely on an app identification when treating a bite or sting. Medically significant spiders like widows and recluses have harmless lookalikes, and reactions differ from person to person. If you are having a severe reaction, trouble breathing, or a spreading wound, get emergency medical care immediately — don't wait on a scan.
Pest advice
Removal suggestions are general information for common household pests. For a real infestation — termites, bed bugs, wasp nests — confirm with a licensed pest-control professional. Please also check what's protected where you live: bees and other pollinators are legally protected in many places, and plenty of scary-looking bugs are harmless and best left alone.
