By downloading or using Buggy ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. What the app does
The app uses AI to identify insects and other arthropods from photos, including notes on whether a species bites, stings or is a household pest, its habitat, size and range. Identifications are generated automatically and may be wrong. They are provided for information and education only.
2. Identification is not medical or pest-control advice
Danger ratings and bite, sting and pest notes are informational and must never be your only basis for a health or safety decision. Never rely solely on an app identification when deciding how to treat a bite or sting. Some medically significant species — such as widow and recluse spiders — closely resemble harmless ones, and reactions vary from person to person. If you are having a severe reaction, trouble breathing, or a spreading wound, seek emergency medical care immediately rather than consulting the app. Treatment and removal suggestions are general information, not professional advice; for infestations, confirm with a licensed pest-control professional.
3. Subscriptions
Premium features (unlimited scanning and the full species profile) require a subscription billed through your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms. Where required, Apple's standard licensed application terms apply: Apple Standard EULA.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to abuse the service — including automated scraping, reverse-engineering the app or its API, circumventing usage limits or subscription checks, or using the app for anything unlawful. You are responsible for following your local wildlife and pesticide regulations, including protections for pollinators and other protected species.
5. Third-party services
The app relies on third-party services to work: AI processing (OpenAI), subscription management (RevenueCat) and payments (Apple). Their availability is outside our control; the app's features may be limited if a provider is unavailable.
6. No warranty, limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses or harm arising from decisions made based on identifications, danger ratings, bite and sting notes or pest advice. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the last 12 months.
7. Changes and termination
We may update the app, these terms, or discontinue the service. Material changes to these terms will be reflected by the effective date above. We may suspend access in cases of abuse (section 4).
